Steve Boggan, President, CEO

President and Chief Executive Officer


Steve Boggan has lead BioHorizons as the President and Chief Executive Officer and as a member of the board of directors since 1999. He joined BioHorizons in 1995 as a biomedical engineer and was quickly promoted to the position of President in 1997. Prior to BioHorizons, Steve Boggan was employed in the R&D department of Dow Corning Wright and Wright Medical Technology from 1989 until 1995. He received a B.S. in Biological Engineering from Mississippi State University, an M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and an M.B.A. from the University of Memphis in 1995. Steve Boggan was named one of the 100 most notable people in the medical device industry by Medical Device & Diagnostic Industry magazine in 2008.

Todd Strong, Executive Vice President, COO

Todd Strong became the first BioHorizons employee when the company was founded in 1997. He has served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer since 2006. His previous positions focused on R&D, manufacturing, and new product introductions. Todd Strong has almost 20 years' experience in the dental implant industry and continues to be a vital contributor to research and development. He is responsible for many of the key patents that are currently owned by or licensed to BioHorizons and has contributed to key publications and book chapters related to implant dentistry. Todd Strong currently runs our worldwide operations along with manufacturing, information technology, R&D and Customer Care. He received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University, and an M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Gavin Poole joined the BioHorizons team in 2015 as Chief Financial Officer. Gavin has over 10 years of financial leadership experience in the Dental and Healthcare sector, having joined Henry Schein in 2003 and served in several positions including CFO, European Healthcare and most recently CFO, Global Animal Health and Strategic Partnerships. Gavin is a member of the South African and England & Wales Institutes of Chartered Accountants.

Barry Thornton joined BioHorizons in 2006 as the Vice-President of Compliance and was promoted to the position of Senior Vice-President, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs, in 2008. He is a former US Air Force officer and has over 20 years of quality and regulatory experience in the medical device industry for companies ranging in size from start-ups to established multi-divisional corporations. He spent over six years in Europe and Canada designing, implementing, and managing global quality systems and product registrations. Barry Thornton received a B.S. in Pre-Medicine: Chemistry from Auburn University.

David Dutil, Senior Vice President and General Counsel

David Dutil has been the Senior Vice President and General Counsel of BioHorizons since 2010. He was Of Counsel and then a Member in the Corporate Department in the Washington, D.C. office of the law firm of Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky and Popeo, P.C. from 2005 to 2010. While at Mintz Levin, David Dutil provided counsel to a variety of private equity investors and companies. He is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and the District of Columbia. David Dutil received a B.A. from the University of Vermont and a J.D. from Fordham University School of Law where he was an Associate Editor of the Law Review.

Mark LoPresti has over 20 years of Sales and Sales Management experience. He joined BioHorizons in 2005 as a Sales Representative based in Toronto, Ontario. In 2007, Mark was promoted to Canadian National Sales Manager. Mark LoPresti was promoted to Director of North American Sales in 2010, a position he held until he was promoted to Vice President of Sales, North America in 2014. Mark was promoted to Senior Vice President of US Sales in 2016.

Andrew Baroody joined BioHorizons in 2005 as Director of Customer Care and was promoted to Vice-President of Sales Operations in 2008. Prior to joining BioHorizons, he served as General Manager for both Carlson and Darden Restaurants from 1992 until 2005. He has over 25 years’ experience in customer relations. Andrew currently oversees the Customer Care, International Sales Operations and Returns and Complaints teams and liaises with the US Sales team on sales operations. He also builds, manages and maintains relationships with Dental Service Organizations working with the company. Andrew received his B.A. in English from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Craig Estes, Vice President of Manufacturing

Craig has over 28 years of experience in the design and manufacture of commercial products with the last 17 of those years specializing in dental and orthopedic devices. He received his Bachelor of Industrial Design (1986) from Auburn University, Auburn, AL and his Masters of Business Administration (2011) –from Strayer University, Washington DC. In his eight years at BioHorizons, Craig has held several positions including: Product Development Engineer, Sr. Product Development Engineer, Director of Engineering, and Vice President of Manufacturing.

Bret Gebhart, Vice President of International Sales, Asia Pacific

Brett started working for BioHorizons in June 2005 as a Product Support Specialist in Los Angeles. In 2009, he was promoted to Senior Product Support Specialist which included responsibility for the Hawaii territory. On October 1, 2010, Brett was promoted to Director of Asia Pacific (APAC). Two years later, he became Account Vice President for APAC which was expanded in January 1, 2014 including the BioHorizons Australian subsidiary.

Winston Greer, Vice President of Regulatory Affairs

Vice President of Regulatory Affairs


Winston began working in regulated industry in 1980 and, moved from aircraft engine manufacturing to medical devices in 1990. Winston's experience in medical device manufacturing includes machining, special processing, and sterile packaging of implants and instruments for large-joint orthopedic, otologic, and dental implant devices, as well as domestic and international medical device and biologic product registrations and licensing. Winston joined BioHorizons in 1996 as Director of Operations and Quality Assurance, and holds the academic degrees of Bachelor of Science (1990) – Quality Assurance, University of South Alabama, Mobile, AL; Master of Science (1994) – Industrial and Systems Engineering, University of Memphis, Memphis, TN; Master of Business Administration (2003) – Troy University, Montgomery, AL; and Juris Doctor (2013) – Birmingham School of Law, Birmingham, AL. Winston has taught graduate and undergraduate classes in statistics and operations management as an adjunct professor at University of Memphis and Troy University, and is a member of the Alabama State Bar.

Elbert Jenkins Jr. joined BioHorizons in 2014 as the Vice President of Information Technology. Elbert has over 20 years’ experience in Information Technology infrastructure management and designs with emphasis in corporate and healthcare environments. Mr. Jenkins received his Bachelor of Arts (B.A./1996) – Business Management from Talladega College, Talladega AL, Masters of Engineering (M.Eng/2012) – Information Engineering Management from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Birmingham, AL and Masters of Business Administration (MBA/2014) - University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Collat School of Business, Birmingham, AL.

Juan Jaramillo, Vice President of Global Business Support

Juan Jaramillo joined BioHorizons in 2007 as a member of the International Business Support team. From 2009 through 2013, he served as Coordinator and Manager of the International Business Support Department. In 2014, Juan was promoted to Director of International Sales Operations, a position he held until he was promoted to Vice President of Global Business Support in 2016. Juan Jaramillo is originally from Colombia, S.A. and graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Andrea McCaskey joined BioHorizons in 2006 as Director, Human Resources and was promoted to the position of Vice President in 2008. Prior to joining BioHorizons, she was employed at Regions Bank in the Human Resources Department as Vice President and Manager of Workplace Effectiveness. She was also the Managing Director of INROADS/Birmingham, Inc. Andrea McCaskey received her B.S. in Finance from Tennessee Technological University.

Fred J. Molz, IV, Vice President of Research and Development

Dr. Molz has over 14 years of experience in the development and commercialization of Dental and Orthopaedic devices and is listed as an inventor on 40 issued US patents. Dr. Molz received his Bachelor of Science (1992) - Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University, Auburn, AL and his Master of Science (1995) – Biomedical Engineering and Doctor of Philosophy (1999) – Biomedical Engineering from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Birmingham, AL. He is an active board member on the UAB Department of Biomedical Engineering External Advisory Board and Undergraduate Science and Technology Honors Program Leadership Council.

Mark Neri, VP International Sales

Mark has over 20 years of experience developing and leading high performance teams in the dental and orthopedic industries. He joined BioHorizons in 1998 as a Product Support Specialist and was promoted to Vice President of North American Sales in 2003. In 2006, he transitioned to the International Division and is currently responsible for direct management of General Managers, Account Vice Presidents (in charge of over 80 distribution partners throughout the world) and Sales Support for the entire international market.

Pat Nilo, Vice President of International Sales, Latin and South America

Pat looks after the Latin America territories, including the subsidiary of Chile. He was the Vice President of Bio-Lok International with responsibilities for Research & Development and International Business. He led the team that developed the Silhouette Laser-Lok Implant, the predecessor of  the flagship Tapered Internal Laser-Lok Implant for BioHorizons. He organized and supervised a 3-year research study on Laser-Lok with an independent Italian research group, GIR. Results from this study were used in the Laser-Lok FDA submission to receive clearance to market in the USA. Pat established subsidiaries in Chile, Australia, Mexico and successful distributors in Turkey, Italy, Argentina, Spain, Mexico, Colombia and Peru.

Vice President of Product Marketing


Boyd Peters joined BioHorizons in 2007 as Director of Implant Marketing and was promoted to Vice President of Product Marketing in 2013. Prior to joining BioHorizons, he held various roles in Medical and Industrial Product Management at Wright Medical Technologies and The Linde Group from 1995 to 2007. Boyd Peters has an MBA from the Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University and a B.S. from Birmingham-Southern College.

Bill Rosene, Vice President of Marketing Operations

William (Bill) Rosene joined BioHorizons in 2000 as a member of the Sales team, and became VP of Marketing in 2003. In 2008, he transitioned to VP of Operations and now manages the Global Supply Chain including purchasing, inventory control, production and distribution. Bill graduated magna cum laude from Lawrence University, Appleton, WI with a Bachelor of Arts (1985). Prior to joining BioHorizons he spent 14 years at the Chicago Board of Trade as an executing Broker in the 30-year Treasury Bond Pit.

Mike Walters, Vice President of Quality Assurance

Mike Walters joined BioHorizons in 2007 as Director of Quality Assurance and was promoted to Vice-President in 2008. He has over 20 years of experience managing quality systems including international aircraft manufacturers while an officer in the US Air Force. Prior to BioHorizons, Mike was employed in Quality and Regulatory roles for both Welch Allyn and B. Braun, helping to bring to market numerous front-line and acute care products. Mike Walters received his MBA from Central Michigan University and a B.S. from Mississippi State University.
