Hamid Shafie, DDS, CAGS
Dr. Hamid Shafie received his certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Prosthodontics from Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine. He is the director of postdoctoral implant training at Washington Hospital Center Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Shafie currently is the President of the American Institute of Implant Dentistry, a not for profit teaching institution, in Washington DC. In addition, Dr. Shafie is the author of the best selling text book Implant Supported Overdentures published by Wiley-Blackwell in 2007. He lectures nationally and internationally about innovative aspects of implant dentistry and is renowned for his unique way of making implant dentistry fun to learn for both specialists and general dentists.
Andrew Ferrier, DDS
Dr. Andrew Ferrier earned his dental degree from UCLA and completed the three year Prosthodontic Residency Program at UCSF. For the past 8 years, he has treated patients with full arch immediate load treatment concepts in his private practice and for a dental implant center. Dr. Ferrier serves as the staff prosthodontist for the Head and Neck surgery department of Kaiser Hospital in Oakland. He has completed over 1,000 arches and conducted thousands of maintenance visits and patient consultations. Dr. Ferrier has held a position of assistant clinical professor at UCSF. He lectures internationally on a broad variety of topics including implants, CEREC, and dental practice management.
Sorrento Valley, CA
Dr. Arshiya Sharafi attained his dental degree at the University of Maryland Dental School and went on to finish his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at University of Maryland Medical Center and R. Adam Cowley Shock Trauma Center. Dr. Sharafi has trained extensively in dentoalveolar surgery, dental implants, orthognathic surgery, maxillofacial trauma surgery, facial cosmetic surgery and benign head and neck pathology. Recently, Dr. Sharafi had extensive training in reconstructive dental implantology. Dr. Sharafi is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Frank Charles Pope
Frank Charles Pope began his dental technology career in 1980 after completing a three year National Dental Technology program in Nice, France. He continued his extensive training by attending and studying advanced esthetic techniques from many of the top ceramic masters in France, Germany, Japan and the US. In 1995, Frank Charles joined a nationally recognized esthetic laboratory in Northern California as a master technician and was soon promoted to General Manager. Frank Charles was instrumental in growing that company from 50 to 750 employees. In 2009, he co-founded Allure Dental Studio in Tracy, CA. Frank Charles has been involved with restoring thousands of arches and lectures nationally and internationally on the treatment concepts of full arch immediate load.
Larry began his dental technology career in 1975 by attending the Dental Technology program at San Francisco City College. Larry continued his education by studying advanced esthetic techniques from many of the top ceramic masters from Europe. Larry designed and built a state of the art CAD/CAM department by utilizing several technology platforms. In January 2009, he co-founded Allure Dental Studio in Tracy, CA. Internationally recognized as one of today’s top educators and digital innovators, he works closely with several leading implant and technology companies as a development partner. Larry maintains a speaking schedule throughout North America.
Dan Cullum, DDS
Coeur d'Alene, Idaho
Dr. Dan Cullum completed his DDS with distinction at the University of Alberta, Canada and residency training at Westchester Medical Center, New York. Dr. Cullum is a Diplomat of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is on faculty as a Visiting Lecturer at Loma Linda University, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and UCLA, Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He speaks internationally and has contributed articles and textbook chapters on implant reconstruction. Dr. Cullum has served in leadership roles at national, state and local societies. At Implants Northwest (Coeur d'Alene, ID), he practices Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with emphasis on immediate and minimally invasive techniques in esthetic implant reconstruction.
Lewis C. Cummings, DDS, MS
Dr. Lewis C. Cummings; a Houston native, received his dental degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. While there, he received the Horace Wells Anesthesiology Award and the Annual Student Award for outstanding achievement in Periodontics from the American Academy of Periodontology. After graduating dental school with honors, Dr. Cummings continued his training with a residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Lincoln, where he completed a Masters Degree in Oral Biology and received his certificate in periodontics. While in Lincoln, Dr. Cummings began to research tissue engineering and has since lectured nationally and internationally on the topic. Additionally, Dr. Cummings has advanced his dental implant training by attending the world renowned Misch International Implant Institute.
Currently, he holds associate professor positions with both the University of Texas Dental School at Houston and the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Lincoln; teaching soft tissue grafting and dental implants in the post-graduate programs. He is also an instructor with the Center for Advanced Dental Education in Dallas, Texas, teaching advanced periodontal plastic surgical procedures to dentists from around the world.
Kevin M. Sims, DMD, MS, RPh
Dr. Kevin M. Sims attended the University of Nevada-Las Vegas and Idaho State University where he received degrees in Radiology Technology and Pharmacy. He practiced for several years first as a radiological technologist then as a critical care pharmacist in several hospitals in Nevada, Idaho and Alabama. Dr. Sims graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Dentistry in 1994. He then completed a three-year residency program in Periodontics at UAB, receiving his Masters of Science in Oral Biology as well. Dr. Sims served as a research fellow during the final year of his residency and completed research in animal modeling for future regenerative procedures.
Dr. Sims is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and the first Distinguished Young Alumni Award recipient of UAB School of Dentistry. Dr. Sims is also a fellow of the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists. He is actively involved in the Birmingham District Dental Society and has served as the Continuing Education Program Chairman, was appointed to the Peer Review Committee and the Executive Council. Dr. Sims is a faculty member of the Alabama Dental Hygiene Program, instructing the dental hygiene students in pharmacology. Dr. Sims served a five year term on the American Dental Association Test Construction Committee writing test questions in the periodontal and implantology disciplines for the National Dental Boards. He holds the academic rank of Clinical Associate Professor at UAB School of Dentistry, Department of Periodontics. Most recently Dr. Sims was asked to serve on the Dean’s Council for the UAB School of Dentistry.
William Roe, DDS
An Alabama native, Dr. Roe received a BS in Biology from Samford University in 1998. A 2002 graduate of the University of Alabama School of Dentistry, he was a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society and received the Excellence in Research Award, American College of Prosthodontics Award, International College of Dentistry Award and studied abroad in Japan. In 2005, Dr. Roe completed a 3 year post graduate program in Prosthodontics where he was Chief Resident receiving training in implant placement. In 2008, Dr. Roe joined University General Dentistry and started Tuscaloosa Dental Arts, an independent dental lab specializing in implant restorations and hybrid bars. His special interests in dentistry include restorations with dental implants ranging from single tooth to full mouth reconstruction while focusing on cosmetically beautiful and natural looking teeth to restore function as well as esthetics.
Paul Fugazzotto DDS
Dr. Fugazzotto received his DDS from New York University in 1979 and a certificate in advanced graduate studies in Periodontology from Boston University in 1981. Since that time Dr. Fugazzotto has maintained a private practice in periodontics and implant therapy in Milton, Massachusetts. Dr. Fugazzotto has authored or co-authored over 80 articles in referenced scientific journals, as well as authoring a monograph entitled "Guided Tissue Regeneration: Maximizing Clinical Results" and three textbooks entitled "Preparation of the Periodontium for Restorative Dentistry"; "Decision Making in Regenerative and Implant Therapies"; and "Periodontal Restorative Interrelationships: Maximizing Treatment Outcomes". Dr. Fugazzotto is an active member of many organizations, and is a fellow of the International Team of Implantology. Dr. Fugazzotto is Senior Editor of Implant Realities and the US ITI Study Club Coordinator. Dr. Fugazzotto is a visiting lecturer at Harvard University and Tufts University School of Dentistry. Dr. Fugazzotto has taught courses through the ICIT Institute for over 20 years.
